Proverbs –

A proverb is a folk piece of advice or suggestion expressed through short and brief sentences.

Most proverbs are related to local beliefs or traditions of a particular place. Proverbs are figurative or literal. They give joy. They are the feast to our brain.

It is important not to miss any of the words in the proverbs because the meaning can be lost if even one word is changed or left out.

Few common proverbs-

1) Actions speak louder than words.

Meaning-  What you do is more important than what you say in life.

2) A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Meaning- You must begin to do something if you hope to finish it. It needs to start with one step ahead on the journey.

3) Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.

Meaning: Don’t assume something will happen before it actually does.

4) Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Meaning: Determination leads to success, no matter how difficult the task.

5) A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Meaning: It’s better to have something certain than to risk losing it by seeking more.

6) Practice makes perfect.

Meaning: The more you practice, the better you become.

7) Honesty is the best policy.

Meaning: Being truthful is the best course of action in the long run.

8) Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Meaning: Great things take time and effort to achieve.

9) All that glitters is not gold.

Meaning: Not everything that looks valuable or good is as it seems.

10) Necessity is the mother of invention.

Meaning: When people really need something, they find a way to get it done.

11) Too many cooks spoil the broth.

Meaning: Too many people working on something can lead to poor results.

12) Better late than never.

Meaning: It’s better to do something late than not do it at all.

13) An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Meaning: It’s better to prevent a problem than to fix it after it happens.

14) You reap what you sow.

Meaning: Your actions, whether good or bad, will come back to you.

15) Look before you leap.

Meaning: Think carefully before making decisions.

16) Two heads are better than one.

Meaning: Collaborating with others often leads to better solutions.

17) When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

Meaning: Adapt to the customs of the place you are in.

18) The pen is mightier than the sword.

Meaning: Words and communication are more powerful than violence or force.
