 NEET Exam- General Introduction

     The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI) has established National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organisation for conducting efficient, transparent and international standard test in order to access the competency of candidates for admission to premier higher education institutions.

मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालय (एमएचआरडी) व भारत सरकार (जीओआय) ने कार्यक्षम, पारदर्शक आणि आंतरराष्ट्रीय मानक चाचणी आयोजित करण्यासाठी स्वतंत्र स्वायत्त आणि स्वावलंबी प्रमुख चाचणी संस्था म्हणून राष्ट्रीय चाचणी संस्था (एनटीए) ची स्थापना केली आहे. देशातील प्रमुख उच्च शिक्षण संस्थांमध्ये प्रवेश घेण्यासाठी उमेदवारांची परीक्षा आयोजित करण्याचे काम ही संस्था करते.

NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (राष्ट्रीय पात्रता सह प्रवेश परीक्षा (यूजी)) is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses and other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognized Medical/Dental & other Colleges/ Institutes in India.

एमबीबीएस / बीडीएस कोर्सेस आणि इतर वैद्यकीय पदवी अभ्यासक्रमांमध्ये भारतातील मान्यता प्राप्त वैद्यकीय / दंत आणि इतर महाविद्यालयांमध्ये प्रवेश घेण्यासाठी राष्ट्रीय परीक्षा एजन्सी (एनटीए- नॅशनल एलिजिबिलिटी कम् एंट्रान्स टेस्ट) द्वारे घेण्यात येते.

NEET-UG is a single entrance test for admissions to more than 66,000 MBBS and BDS seats across India.

According to the order of the court, the correct answer to a question in Physics will be considered to issue revised score card to all the students..

4) सुधारित निकाल लावल्यानंतर कौन्सिलिंगचे वेळापत्रक जाहीर करण्यात येईल.

The counseling schedule will be announced after the revised result.

5) वेळापत्रक जाहीर करताच सर्वांना ते कळविण्यात येईल.

As soon as the schedule is announced, it will be communicated to everyone.

6) काउन्सलिंग लवकरच सुरू होत असल्याने सर्वांनी त्यासाठीची तयारी करावी आणि आपले कागदपत्र जर अजून तयार करून ठेवले नसतील तर ते तयार करून ठेवावे.

As counseling is starting soon everyone should prepare for it and prepare your documents if not yet.

About Exam:

1) There are a total of 180 questions asked in the exam, 45 questions each from Physics and Chemistry, 90 questions from Biology.

2) Each correct response fetches 4 marks and each incorrect response gets -1 negative marking.

3) The exam duration is 3 hours (180mins).

4) The exam is of 720 marks (maximum marks).

Syllabus:

NEET-UG syllabus consists of the core concepts of Physics, Chemistry and Biology taught in classes 11 and 12 as prescribed by the NCERT and State Boards.

Key things:

1) As per the orders of Honourable Supreme Court, there will be a single medical entrance exam all over India for admission into medical and dental colleges.

2) The colleges will not be able to conduct their own medical entrance exam and thus all will accept students based on NEET Score.

3) After the declaration of the results, an All India Rank (AIR) is allotted to each candidate and a merit list is released.

4) The Medical Council of India conducts counselling (allotment of seats according to merit and candidate choice) for 15% state seats, central institutes and deemed universities.

5) The counselling for remaining 85% state quota seats and private colleges is done by the medical boards of respective states.

6) States prepare their separate merit list on basis of NEET-UG results.

Important Things:

1) Take printouts of the Confirmation Page of online Application.

2) Preserve the proof of fee paid (i.e. Bank transaction details supported by confirmation page).

3) Take at least 4-6 copies of identical passport size and 4-6 post card size Photographs that were scanned and uploaded on the Online Application.

4) Print copy of the system generated Self Declaration in respect of candidates from U.T of J&K who have opted for seats under 15% All India Quota.

5) Candidates must ensure that mobile numbers, e-mail ID filled in online Application form are their own or their parents only. The NTA will communicate by SMS and/or e-mail on given mobile number and email ID respectively only.

6) Candidates must preserve the Admit Cards till their admission in Undergraduate Medical Courses.

7) Candidates are advised to regularly visit the NTA website for latest updates. NTA will communicate all instructions through website only.

The eligibility criteria are as follows:

Age requirement

The candidates should be 17 years of age by 31st December 2023 to be eligible for the 2024 exam.

Nationality

The candidates must be Indian citizens, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, or foreign nationals.

Educational qualifications

Students who have cleared the 10+2 exam or equivalent are eligible to apply. Those appearing for the 12th exam can apply.

Subjects

To be eligible to apply for the exam, the candidate must be from the science stream, having studied chemistry, physics, biology, and English under a recognised board.

Qualification examination scores

The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50 percent in the 3 science subjects (chemistry, physics, biology). For reserved category candidates, the minimum requirement is 40 percent.

NEET 2024 Application Process

The process to apply for the NEET 2024 exam:

1) Visit the NEET UG registration portal.

2) Click on New Registration under the Apply online link.

3) Read the instructions carefully.

 4) Select the checkbox.

 5) Click on the Proceed option.

 6) Fill in the registration form.

 7) Enter the security pin and click on submit.

 8) Note down the application number.

 9) Complete the application form.

 10) Upload the required documents.

 11) Pay the application fees.

 12) Take a printout of the application form.
