UGC NET is now ‘One Nation, One CET’ for Ph.D.

The ‘One Nation, One CET’ policy for medical courses will now be extended to students seeking Ph.D (Research) as well. For that, instead of the university level PET exam, NET is the exam required to become an assistant professor at the central level and will be considered as the qualifying test.
वैद्यकीय अभ्यासक्रमांसाठीचे ‘वन नेशन, वन सीईटी’ हे धोरण आता पीएच.डी (संशोधन) करू इच्छिणाऱ्या विद्यार्थ्यांनाही लागू करण्यात येणार आहे. त्यासाठी विद्यापीठ स्तरावरील ‘पेट’ परीक्षेऐवजी ‘नेट’ ही केंद्रीय स्तरावरील सहायक प्राध्यापक बनण्यासाठी आवश्यक असलेली परीक्षाच पात्रता चाचणी म्हणून ग्राह्य धरली जाणार आहे.
PET is the qualifying exam for Ph.D., which is required to conduct by universities at least twice a year, while NET is the qualifying exam required to work as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Assistant Professor.
However, in many universities, the schedule of PET is disrupted and it gets delayed.
‘पेट’ ही पी.एच.डी साठीची पात्रता परीक्षा असून, ती विद्यापीठांनी वर्षातून किमान दोन वेळा घेणे आवश्यक आहे, तर ‘नेट’ ही ज्युनिअर रिसर्च फेलो (जेआरएफ) आणि असिस्टंट प्रोफेसर म्हणून काम करण्यास आवश्यक असलेली पात्रता परीक्षा आहे.
मात्र, अनेक विद्यापीठांमध्ये पेटचे वेळापत्रक विस्कळीत होऊन त्या लांबतात.
So the decision to decide eligibility for Ph.D on the basis of NET will be beneficial in places where the fire stops in the universities.
त्यामुळे नेटच्या आधारे पीएच.डी साठीची पात्रता ठरविण्याचा निर्णय ज्या विद्यापीठांमध्ये पेट रखडतात अशा ठिकाणी फायदेशीर ठरेल.
NET is a qualifying exam that tests teaching skills. It has to give two papers namely General Studies and subject knowledge test, while PET will be announced in three categories namely JRF and Ph.D admission with assistant professors.
नेट ही अध्यापनाचे कौशल्य तपासणारी पात्रता परीक्षा आहे. त्यात जनरल स्टडीज आणि विषयाचे ज्ञान तपासणारे असे दोन पेपर द्यावे लागतात, तर पेटमध्ये जेआरएफ आणि सहायक प्राध्यापकांसह पीएच.डी प्रवेश या तीन श्रेणीमध्ये घोषित केला जाईल.
महत्वाचे-
1) NET result will be in percentile for Ph.D. It will be based on marks in NET and interview.
पीएच.डीसाठी नेटचा निकाल पसेंटाइलमध्ये असेल. तो नेटमधील गुण आणि मुलाखतीमध्ये मिळालेल्या गुणांवर आधारित असेल.
2) As per current Ph.D admission norms, 70 percent weightage will be given to test marks and 30 percent weightage will be given to interview.
सध्याच्या पीएच.डी प्रवेशाच्या नियमांनुसार, चाचणी गुणांना ७० टक्के वेटेज दिले जाईल आणि ३० टक्के वेटेज मुलाखतीला दिले जाईल.
3) The marks obtained by the students will remain valid for admission for one year. This decision will be implemented from June.
विद्यार्थ्यांनी मिळवलेले गुण एका वर्षासाठी प्रवेशासाठी वैध राहतील. जूनपासून या निर्णयाची अंमलबजावणी होणार आहे.
नेट परीक्षा का महत्वाची?
प्रत्येक विद्यापीठ आपल्याकडील संशोधनाकरिता स्वतंत्रपणे पेट परीक्षा घेते. इच्छुक उमेदवारांना त्या त्या विद्यापीठाच्या पेट द्याव्या लागतात. नेट या केंद्रीय स्तरावरील परीक्षेमुळे उमेदवारांना स्वतंत्रपणे परीक्षा देण्याची गरज नाही. त्यामुळे एकापेक्षा अधिक परीक्षा देण्यासाठी लागणारा वेळ आणि खर्च दोन्ही वाचणार आहे.
PhD Admission are done on the basis of national level Research Entrance Test or University-level Entrance Exam for PhD. This is followed by personal interview wherein candidates have to present their research proposal.
PhD is a three-year course (full-time) and six-year course (part-time).
The most popular entrance examination for PhD Admission is UGC-NET which is conducted twice every year for PhD Admissions.
Examination Schedule of UGC – NET June 2024 – reg.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct UGC – NET June 2024 for
(i) ‘award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor’,
(ii) ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.’ and
(iii) ‘admission to Ph.D. only’ in 83 subjects in OMR (Pen and Paper), mode on 18th June 2024.

Know New Changes and Time Table for NET Exam from June 2024-
जाणून घ्या जून 2024 पासून नेट परीक्षेतील नवीन बदल व वेळापत्रक–
1) Students from any stream of four-year degree courses are allowed to take the NET exam from June 2024 for the subject in which they want to pursue Ph.D.
चार वर्षाच्या पदवी अभ्यासक्रमातील कोणत्याही शाखेच्या विद्यार्थ्यांना त्यांना ज्या विषयात पीएच.डी करायची आहे, त्यासाठी जून 2024 पासून नेट परीक्षा देण्याची परवानगी देण्यात आली आहे.
2) Appeared students for PG course can also apply for the NET exam.
पदव्युत्तर अभ्यासक्रमास प्रवेशित (Appeared) विद्यार्थी देखील नेट परीक्षेस अर्ज करू शकतात.
3) NET June 2024 examination will be conducted across the country on 16th June 2024 in offline mode in OMR sheet paper and pen mode in objective format.
नेट जून 2024 परीक्षा संपूर्ण देशात 16 जून 2024 रोजी ऑफलाईन पद्धतीने ओएमआर शीट पेपर व पेन पद्धतीने वस्तुनिष्ठ स्वरूपात होणार आहे.
4) From June 2024-25 academic year, the Ph.D admissions will be based on the UGC NET result, now the UGC NET result will be given in the following 3 categories.
जून 2024-25 शैक्षणिक वर्षापासुन UGC NET च्या निकालावर मिळणार पीएच.डी प्रवेश होणार आहेत, आता UGC NET चा निकाल पुढील 3 कॅटेगरी मध्ये दिला जाणार आहे.

Eligible for admission to Ph.D
पी.एच.डी एडमिशन साठी पात्र
Category 2 and 3 score will be considered for next 1 year for PhD admission.
कॅटेगरी 2 व 3 चा स्कोअर पीएचडी एडमिशन साठी पुढील 1 वर्ष ग्राह्य धरण्यात येणार.
5) Now the students will not need to take the PhD entrance exam of many universities. As above, the qualified students in category 2 and 3 will be admitted to PhD on the basis of marks obtained by taking UGC NET marks (70% weightage) and PhD admission interview marks of the institution (30% weightage).
आता विद्यार्थ्यांना अनेक विद्यापिठाच्या पीएचडी प्रवेश परीक्षा देण्याची आवश्यकता राहणार नाही. तर वरील प्रमाणे कँटेगरी 2 व 3 मधील क्वालिफाईड विद्यार्थ्यांना UGC NET चे मार्क (70% वेटेज) व संस्थेची पीएचडी प्रवेशावेळी मुलाखतीचे गुण (30% वेटेज) धरुन मिळणारे गुणाचे आधारावर पीएचडीला प्रवेश दिला जाईल.
NET Exam Pattern
नेट परीक्षेचे स्वरूप
- NET exam is for 300 marks.
नेट परीक्षा ३०० गुणांसाठी असते.
- There are two papers in NET exam.
नेट परीक्षेत दोन प्रश्नपत्रिका असतात.
- The first paper contains 50 questions for 100 marks while the second paper contains 100 questions for 200 marks and the second paper is subject related.
पहिली प्रश्नपत्रिका 50 प्रश्न 100 गुणांसाठी तर दुसरी प्रश्नपत्रिका 100 प्रश्न 200 गुणांसाठी असते व हा दुसरा पेपर विषयाशी संबंधित असते.
Important things-
1) The application form for the examination can be filled online at the website ugcnet.nta.ac.in / www.nta.ac.in.
परीक्षेचा अर्ज ऑनलाईन ugcnet.nta.ac.in / www.nta.ac.in या वेबसाईटवर भरता येतील.
2) Six percent of the candidates will be qualified based on the number of students who have given both the papers in the examination
परीक्षेत दोन्ही प्रश्नपत्रिका दिलेल्या विद्यार्थ्यांच्या संख्येनुसार सहा टक्के उमेदवार पात्र ठरवले जातील
3) A list of candidates who have secured at least 40 percent (open category) or 35 percent (reserved category) marks in both the question papers will be prepared.
त्यानंतर दोन्ही प्रश्नपत्रिका मिळून किमान ४० टक्के (खुला प्रवर्ग) किंवा ३५ टक्के (आरक्षित प्रवर्ग) गुण मिळवलेल्या उमेदवारांची यादी तयार करण्यात येणार
4) Accordingly, the merit list of the candidates who have secured the highest marks will be prepared and qualified for the post of Assistant Professor.
त्यानुसार सर्वाधिक गुण मिळवलेल्या उमेदवारांची गुणवत्ता यादी तयार करून सहायक प्राध्यापक पदासाठी पात्र ठरवले जाईल.

This time two major changes have been made in the UGC NET exam and both these changes are going to be implemented from this session.
While previously a Masters degree was mandatory for a PhD, now students with a 4-year UG degree can directly pursue a PhD.
यावेळी यूजीसी नेट परीक्षेत दोन मोठे बदल करण्यात आले असून हे दोन्ही बदल या सत्रापासून लागू केले जाणार आहेत.
यापूर्वी पीएचडीसाठी (PHD) मास्टर्स डिग्री अनिवार्य असताना, आता 4 वर्षांची यूजी पदवी असलेले विद्यार्थी थेट पीएचडी करू शकतात.
The subject will not be compulsory
विषयाची सक्ती असणार नाही
According to UGC students who are pursuing four-year degree or 8-semester UG course and are in their final year or semester can apply for UGC NET 2024 June exam. However, they must have 75% aggregate marks or equivalent grade in graduation. Along with this, students will not have any compulsory subjects. So you can do Ph. D in any other subject instead of your degree subject.
UGC नुसार जे विद्यार्थी चार वर्षांचा पदवी किंवा 8-सेमिस्टर UG कोर्स करत आहेत आणि त्यांच्या शेवटच्या वर्षात किंवा सेमिस्टरमध्ये आहेत ते UGC–NET 2024 जून परीक्षेसाठी अर्ज करू शकतात. तथापि, त्यांच्याकडे ग्रॅज्युएशन मध्ये एकूण 75% गुण किंवा समतुल्य ग्रेड असणे आवश्यक आहे. यासोबतच विद्यार्थ्यांना कोणत्याही विषयाची सक्ती राहणार नाही. म्हणजे तुमच्या पदवी विषयाऐवजी तुम्ही इतर कोणत्याही विषयात Ph.
