Eligibility-

1) Candidate must have passed class XII (or equivalent) Board examination with a minimum of five subjects and secured at least 75% aggregate marks.

2) Must have passed class XII (or equivalent) Board examination with a minimum of five subjects and be within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination.

3) The percentile calculation will be done for all the required subjects, in a single academic year only. Therefore, candidates appearing for improvement in Board examinations can either appear in one or more subjects and secure 75% aggregate marks after improvement, OR, appear for improvement in all subjects to be in top 20 percentile (see section titled “Regarding the cut-off marks for the top 20 percentile”) of the corresponding academic year.

4) In all cases, the marksheet is required to have been issued by the same examination board and marksheets from separate boards are not permitted.

5) The marks scored in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks and the cut-off marks for fulfilling the top 20 percentile criterion.

1. Physics

2. Chemistry

3. Mathematics

4. A language (if the candidate has taken more than one language, then the language with the higher marks will be considered)

Any subject other than the above four (the subject with the highest marks will be considered).

6)For candidates who appeared in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination for the first time in 2023 and reappeared in all subjects (for whatsoever reason) in 2024, the best of the two performances will be considered.

Regarding the cut-off marks for the top 20 percentile

The category-wise cut-off marks for the top 20 percentile are calculated based on the marks scored by the successful candidates who appeared in their respective boards for all the required subjects, in the particular year.

The marksheet submitted by the candidates for their Class XII (or equivalent) examination must be issued by a single examination Board.

2) Class XII (or equivalent examination) certificate.

3) Identity proof in the form of Citizenship certificate.

4) Testimonials where applicable.

JEE (Advanced) 2024 registered candidates are required to upload the following scanned certificates. All the documents must be in PDF format. Size- 50 KB to 300 KB.

JEE Advanced Question Paper Pattern – 2024

JEE-Advanced 2024 Paper-1 Type

1. Total Marks of Paper 1 was 180 & Duration: 3 Hours


2. The Paper had 51 questions with 17 questions in each subject.


3. Paper-1 had three parts- Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.


4. Max. Marks for each Part was 60.


5. In each part there were Four sections:

Section wise marks-

• Sec-I (Max. marks-12)

• Sec-II (Max. Marks-12)

• Sec-III (Max. marks-24)

• Sec-IV (Max. marks-12)


6. Sec-I had Four Questions with four options in which only ONE option was correct.

Marking scheme in this section:

• Full marks: +3 : If only the correct option is chosen

• Zero Marks: 0 : If none of the options are chosen

• Negative Marks: -1 In all other cases


7. Sec-II had Three questions with four options in which ONE OR More than ONE option(s) were correct.

Marking scheme in this section:

• Full marks: +4 : If only (all) the correct options are chosen

• Partial Marks: +3 : If all the four options are correct but ONLY three correct options are chosen

• Partial Marks: +2 : If three or more options are correct but only two correct options are chosen

• Partial Marks: +1 : If two or more options are correct but only one correct option is chosen

• Zero Marks: 0 : If none of the options are chosen

• Negative Marks: -2 In all other cases


8. Sec-III had Six questions of Numerical Based (Non-Negative Integer Type)

Marking scheme in this section:

• Full marks: +4 for the correct answer

• Zero Marks: 0 in all other cases


9. Sec-IV had Four questions with each question of Match List type i.e. Match List-I to List-II. List-I had 4 questions to be matched to List-II which had 5 options. One or more than one options were correct.

Marking scheme in this section:

• Full marks: +3 in case all options are correct,

• Zero Marks: 0 if none of the options are chosen

• Negative Marks: -1 In all other cases
